Maxito Sainvil vs. Malik Joe

Undefeated welterweight Maxito Sainvil (3-0-1, 1 KO) earned himself some new fans following an impressive four rounds against pro debuting Malik Joe (0-1, 0 KOs). Despite a distinct height disadvantage, Sainvil was able to consistently snap his jab and leap into some fully committed hooks that found their target. By the time that the four frames had concluded, Sainvil had hit his opposition with everything but the handle from the kitchen sink, but the resilient Joe was still there when the final bell sounded. As a result, Sainvil would have to settle for a well-deserved unanimous decision shutout following flush 40-36 counts on the scorecards.

Maxito Sainvil 146.8 vs. Anton Williamson 146.6

In a good-action scrap, Maxito “The Anvil” Sainvil, 146¾, Nyack, NY, was much too powerful and aggressive for his Brooklynite foe Anton Williamson. The shorter Sainvil bobbed and weaved his way inside Williamson’s reach, pounding away at the body with hooks from both hands. Applying pressure throughout, Sainvil focused on his uppercut and left hook as the bout progressed. On occasion, Williamson, 146½, was able to land countershots, though a left hook upstairs floored him in the third. After four frames, Sainvil won a unanimous decision on scores of 40-35 twice, and 38-37, to improve to 2-0 (1 KO), while Williamson fell to 1-3.

Maxito Sainvil vs. Dustin Parrish

In the opening bout of the night, the highly anticipated pro debut of former New York amateur standout Maxito Sainvil got the action started, facing off against Dustin Parrish (1-5, 1 KO) from Tallahassee. This fight looked to be over as quickly as it began, as Sainvil landed a flush two-punch combination immediately at the start that froze Parrish and sent him to the canvas. To his credit, Parrish was able to get his legs back under him and somehow battle his way to the first round bell. The second frame would need just over a minute to determine the victor, with Sainvil throwing a right hand to the body before coming underneath with a right uppercut that dropped Parrish face forward. As soon as Parrish was down, the referee called a halt to the match at the 1:02 mark of the second frame.

Torres held tough for the first two rounds, but a series of combinations to the body and head forced the referee to halt matters.

“It’s all about my training,” Sainvil said. “My coach trains me to be mentally and physically tough. That’s where the fight is won.”
